A flower dear to the heart of Marie-Antoinette, a client of the House, the Petit Cactus Vanille, native from Mexico and the West Indies, has the particularity of flowering only one night a year, in early spring. Its exceptional nocturnal blooming was immortalized by the botanical painter Pierre-Joseph Redouté, at the request of the Queen. This story is at the origin of the “Muses” line dedicated to the 18th century, imagined by Laure-Isabelle Mellerio by delving into the House's archives.
This spring, the Cactus line is adorned with shades of blue and green. These two colors were particularly appreciated by Queen Marie-Antoinette. The pistil of the flower is represented, either by a sapphire in homage to the blue of the painter Nattier, or by the green of a tsavorite illustrating the Queen's taste for gardens and in particular the Queen's grove at Versailles, a place where one could escape and hide behind a large curtain of greenery and designed like a succession of green rooms in the open air. A delicate evocation of Marie-Antoinette's boudoir at Trianon, the soft blue-green colors contrasted with the warmth of the rose gold petals create a spring palette for the rings, necklaces and bracelets in the Le Petit Cactus Bleu line.
