Discover the new Le Petit Cactus Vert, jewelry collection from Maison Mellerio imagined by Laure-Isabelle Mellerio, president and artistic director of Mellerio.
A flower dear to the heart of Marie-Antoinette, a client of the House, the Petit Cactus Vanille, native to Mexico and the West Indies, has the particularity of flowering only one night a year, in early spring. Its exceptional nocturnal blooming was immortalized by the botanical painter Pierre-Joseph Redouté, at the request of the Queen. This story is at the origin of the jewelry line dedicated to the 18th century, imagined by Laure-Isabelle Mellerio by delving into the House’s archives.
The Cactus fine jewelry line is adorned this spring with shades of green, complementing the colorful flower bouquets of previous collections, Petit Cactus Vanille, Petit Cactus Rose and Petit Cactus Bleu evoking Marie-Antoinette’s favorite flower and colors.
This jewelry collection is inspired by the Queen’s appreciation of nature and her passion for gardens. By associating different shades of green, the collection evokes the Queen’s gardens at Versailles through the contrast of the vivid, intense green of tsavorite with the pale, delicate green of mint garnet or the blue-green of tourmaline. The chromatic vitality of the greens, contrasted with the warmth of the rose gold petals, creates a spring-like palette for the rings, necklaces, studs and women's diamonds bracelets in the Le Petit Cactus Vert line.
